Bent Cone
Bent Cone
2012

In this series, site-specific interruptions are installed in construction sites and public parks, creating fictions that are both absurd and arresting. The altered traffic cones are part deconstructed symbols, part absurd monuments. At the core of these cones is the desire to interrogate the objects that pervade and control the way we experience public space. In what ways are these symbols permeable and permutable, and how does altering the object change the meaning of the symbol?
